Nutcracker Volunteer Committees rigging_crop

RYDE Nutcracker parents are asked to volunteer for a committee as a way of supporting the production. The annual success of The Nutcracker is due in no small part to the hard work of these parent volunteers.

Rehearsal Parents

For the safety of our children, and to maximize their rehearsal time, you will be emailed to arrange to stay for one or more rehearsals during your child’s regularly scheduled rehearsal time during the weeks of rehearsal. Rehearsal parents help monitor the children and direct them according to the needs of the artistic and production staff. Younger, larger groups may require two parents per rehearsal.

Backstage Supervisors

Volunteers are needed to assist with the children in backstage dressing rooms during all dress rehearsals and performances. We will work around your schedule.

Costume Construction and Alterations

If you can use a tape measure, we can use YOU… If you can sew a hemline, please sign up for this committee. Fittings are usually done over the weekend; costume adjustment can be completed at home.

Technical Crew

Positions to be filled for load-in and strike as well as assisting backstage with all production details such as props, scenery and effects, as well as taking responsibility for preparation and completion of shows, communicating with supervisory staff and scheduling.

Fundraising

You will be asked to help organize and set up fundraising events at performances in both locations.

Ushers

Volunteers are needed for all performances, to take tickets & escort patrons to their assigned seats.
